Placing the bed near a heat source is a good way to get the cat to use their bed, especially in the winter!

Excellent list. I just moved our cat's bed to another room, for a change of pace. She seems to have no interest in treats though, and I'm not sure hiding them will help.

Great tips! I have two cats, and I really would hate to have to do the eye medicine.

And - if you have a third person available, be sure to let him get the whole thing on video. It'll probably go viral on YouTube. ;)

I've been debating on whether or not I should try catnip with my newly adopted kitten (he's about 3 1/2 months old now). He's already so insane that I am afraid he will cause the multi-family house to implode or maybe even explode! But he could be part of that 30% that doesn't experience any effects.

I'm impressed! Where do I sign my cats up? All my cats do are knock over my glasses full of milk and get food on their faces. I would rate their table manners a 2, maybe a 3 on a really good day.

I just realized something. A few days ago, I heard a conversation on the radio about sexual identity and cat ownership. Perhaps it is because they read this article and brought it up. But anyway, I became incredibly annoyed because one of the females on this radio show kept saying how "gay" and "homo" it was for a single man to own a cat. I ended up changing the station because I was so annoyed by the entire conversation.

I am not sure how owning a certain pet can determine your taste in sexual partners. What if you own a horse, or perhaps a bird or even an iguana, what is your sexual preference then? So stupid.

This really saddens me too. The reality is, not only is the animal getting exploited here (by the shelter, not the new adoptive family), but the shelter really doesn't need negative press, especially when this entire situation could have been completely avoided. Shelters need all the help they can get, especially when they rely on donations as their main source of income.

Clearly, Jen Andersch needs to be fired. It's the only way I feel they can restore any integrity they may have left.
